Scotland Highland Tour


Meeting Place:

Highland Bed & Breakfast - Tour/ Category HB:

Official arriving day is the Friday before the tour starts.
If you don't get any other information we meet between 12noon and 3pm in The Fishermans Tavern Hotel in 10-16 Fort Street, Broughty Ferry/ DUNDEE DD5 1JL Scotland.
You will easily find the hotel when you arrive:

... in Broughty Ferry look for Fort Street, it's the 2nd street right hand side beyond a big Honda trade shop (West End Garage). The Fishermans is also sign posted at that cross road with traffic lights.
For those, who would like to arrive on Saturday, the day of our tour start, please look for meeting place information at the next paragraph.

Highland Youth Hostel and Highland Camping Tour / Categories HY and HC:

Official arriving day is Saturday, the day of our tour start.
If you don't get any other information we meet between 12noon and at latest 1pm local time at Discovery Point Dundee.
This is also for those of the Bed & Breakfast Tour, who arrive on the Saturday.
The Discovery Point, a big building with a dome of glass (see picture above), is already visible by reaching Dundee via Tay Road Bridge. Just a few hundred yards left of the bridge you will see the Discovery, Scott's ship.
Leave the bridge by staying in left lane and you cannot miss the Discovery Point, lying left hand side.
If you arrive from the west (Ayr, Glasgow, Perth), follow A 85 and sign posts for Tay Road Bridge.


Extension days Scotland Highland Tour


Meeting Place:

All Categories LB/ LY/ LC

Arriving day for participants that only book the Lowland Tour is the Sunday before the tour starts.
We meet about 5pm local time at the Discovery Point, see Scotland Highland Tour.


Group Details:

Minimum 6 participants (Camping Tour 8), maximum 12 participants plus 1 experienced tourguide, who leads the group.
Tourguide carries medical 1st Aid- kit and mobile phone.

General terms and conditions:

Minimum age for participants is 21 years.
All Drivers must have and carry with them a full-unrestricted currently valid motorcycle driving licence.

Passport:

All participants who arrive from abroad, must have and carry with them a passport or id-card with an expiry date of no less than 6 months from your date of arriving in the UK if you traveling from abroad.

Insurance:

All participants must have fully personal insurance for the holidays duration, which covers them against all possible risks as repatriation of their bike and luggage, cancellation and ambulance and air rescue.

Motorbike:

All drivers are liable for the condition of either their own or certainly for the condition of a hired motorcycle and should take use of a therefore necessary insurance cover. Trial bikes, touring or sport bikes are all suitable for the tour but should not have an engine capacity of less than 350cc and no power less than 27 HP.

Clothing and Protection:

It is a legal requirement in the UK and a condition of joining our tour to wear a suitable crash helmet, which is the absolute minimum. We do recommend that you have a windproof jacket, good quality leather gloves and stout boots or shoes. Remember – you can never be too well protected.

Travel route:

For this we cannot give any guarantees. Local conditions, weather and riding in separated groups can always bring up the necessity of changing part of stages or even accommodation.

If you would like to book our tour, please print out, fill in completely and send along with your 20% but minimum € 150/ £ 100 deposit.

Motorbike Hire:

Various BMW and Moto Guzzi motorcycle models are available at Rentamotorcycle.co.uk in Ayr near Glasgow.
Various Suzuki, Yamaha and Kawasaki motorbike models can be supplied on special request.

From the hire company in Ayr you can book a BMW F650CS and other motorbikes.:

Minimum age:


Classes A, B and C: 25 years.
If you are in an age between 21 and 24 years and wish to hire a bike, please let us know, as ALBAMA will still be able to help you out.

There is a direct railway connection from Prestwick Airport to Newton on Ayr, it is in a distance of just two railway stations south of the airport. And here you can already see the hire shop when leaving the train (2 minutes walk).
